Josef Schörghuber
Founding

1949

Josef Schörghuber, who runs his parents' carpentry and joinery workshop in Mitteraham near Mühldorf am Inn together with his brother Leo, joins the project development team at Bayerische Baukredit GmbH in Munich as a freelancer.
Entry in the commercial register

1954

On 2 April, Josef Schörghuber registers Bavaria Hausbau GmbH in Munich's commercial register. A few months later, he changes the name to Bayerische Hausbau GmbH. It is under this name that the company will make building history.
Olympic Village

1972

This is the year that Bayerische Hausbau builds approximately 1,000 apartments as part of the Olympic Village in Munich.
Leipziger Klostergasse

1990

Josef Schörghuber is the first project developer to receive building permission in what was once East Germany. The project involves the extensive renovation and expansion of the Paulaner Palais in Leipzig's Klostergasse.
Budapest, Warschau, Chile

2002

Bayerische Hausbau builds the highly acclaimed MOM Park in Budapest. It is followed in 2004 by the Articom Center in Warsaw. The development of large-scale projects outside of Germany is nothing new for the company as it had already built residential and commercial buildings in Santiago de Chile in the 1990s.
Alexandra Schörghuber
Alexandra Schörghuber

2008

Stefan Schörghuber dies on 25 November. Shortly before his death, he laid the foundation stone for the striking THE m.pire ensemble in Parkstadt Schwabing, which was completed in 2010. From 2008 on, his wife, Alexandra Schörghuber, has headed up the group of companies as chairwoman of the foundation board.
Bikini Berlin
BIKINI BERLIN

2013

Following the large-scale revitalization of the Zoobogen ensemble – an international sensation known from this time on as BIKINI BERLIN – and completion of the Joseph Pschorr Haus in Munich's pedestrian zone, these two landmark properties neatly round off Bayerische Hausbau's portfolio.
Marienplatz 22

2017

At the heart of Munich, the commercial property at Marienplatz 22 shines with new luster. Marienplatz is also where, two years earlier, Bayerische Hausbau completely rebuilt Munich's second oldest restaurant, the Donisl.
Paloma-Viertel
Paloma quarter

2018

In Hamburg, the company signs the urban development contract for the Paloma-Viertel in St. Pauli. This was preceded by an extensive public participation process that caused a stir and set a precedent nationwide.
Organizational unbundling

2023

The Development and Real Estate divisions are transformed into two independent companies, each with its own autonomous management team and carefully tailored growth strategy. The "Bayerische Hausbau" umbrella brand, as home to both companies, continues to enhance the visibility and positioning of the two companies on the market.

Florian Schörghuber supersedes Nico Nusmeier

2024

2024 is a very special year for the Schörghuber Group – firstly, Bayerische Hausbau, the nucleus of the group, celebrates its 70th anniversary. Secondly, for the first time since the death of Stefan Schörghuber in 2008, a member of the family that owns the company is once again at the helm: Florian Schörghuber.As co-CEO, he had already played a leading role in the transformation of the Group that he initiated in 2021. He expects openness, a willingness to change, confidence and, most importantly, the will to work together both from himself and from his colleagues in the Schörghuber Group, with the aim of achieving the stated objectives: focused, sustainable and profitable growth across all business divisions. This growth is not an end in itself but rather a prerequisite for remaining an independent and financially strong family-owned business.
First building

1952

The young entrepreneur invests his own money for the first time in Holbeinstraße, building 27 apartments with an investment of DM 123,000. He immediately invests the profit in new plots of land and projects.
Arabellapark
Arabellapark

1965

This is the year that ground is broken for Munich's Arabellapark, a "city within a city" that offers space in which to live, work and relax, serving worldwide as an example of the successful development of a new urban quarter.
Paulaner
Acquisition of Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner

1979

Following the acquisition of Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner, the real estate assets of the two traditional Munich breweries are added the company's portfolio.
Stefan Schörghuber

1995

Following the death of Josef Schörghuber, his son, Stefan Schörghuber, takes the helm of the highly diversified corporate group.
Bayerische Bau and Immobilien Gruppe

2005

The construction and real estate divisions are bundled together under the roof of Bayerische Bau und Immobilien Gruppe.
Bayerische Hausbau

2010

On 1 October, the business division is bundled under a new umbrella brand. Bayerische Bau und Immobilien Gruppe – once again – becomes Bayerische Hausbau.
Real estate portfolio and development

2015

This is the year in which the company focuses on its existing real estate portfolio and developing new projects in Munich and Hamburg.
Nockherberg
Am Nockherberg

2017

Bayerische Hausbau launches the creation of a vibrant urban development at Nockherberg, on the nine-hectare site of the former business premises of the Paulaner brewery in Munich's Au district. It is planned that approximately 1,500 apartments be built here by 2023.
Florian Schörghuber

2022

Florian Schörghuber is the third generation of the family to join the group's executive board. The group's new decentralized structure will ensure the future viability of the company for generations to come.
